Do not count your starting ch 2 in your stitch count

Main pieces

Make 2
Row 1  Ch 15, hdc in 3rd ch from hook and each ch across.  Turn. (13 hdc)
Row 2  Ch 2, in back loops only, hdc across. Turn. (13 hdc)
Row 3 thru 6 Repeat Row 2.

Finish off your first piece, do not finish off at the end of your 2nd piece.
Holding both pieces together, ch 1 then sc into corner st (make sure you are going through both layers). Sc 4 down short side of rectangle.

Ch 20, hdc in 3rd ch from hook and each ch back to beginning of ch.  Ss in next st to join handle to main piece. (You will be connecting the other end of your handle when you work around to that side.)  Sc in same st as ss, then continue sc’s around edges of main piece.

When you get to the corners, work 3 sc into each corner.  When you reach the other short side, sc 4, then holding the other end of the handle between your 2 main pieces, ss through all 3 layers in next 2 sts.

Work sc’s around to the corner you started at, working 2 sc in last corner.  Finish off and weave in ends.
